Muy recordados Covelianos:

On Monday, October 6, 2008, California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell sent a formal certificate, with a special gold seal (not in the attachment), to the University of the Pacific and the School of International Studies. The certificate was presented to Provost Gilbertson and a second to Dean Margee Ensign. The purpose was to acknowledge UOP for the re-integration of Spanish-language components into the curriculum and the living environment (Casa Covell). State Superintendent Jack O'Connell is responsible for the education of 6.3 million California school children grades K-12. Of these, 1.5 million are English learners. Of all English learners in the state, 85%  are Spanish speakers.

We missed all our Covell colleagues on October 6, but we felt you with us in spirit.

Abrazos,

Kim Reed Edwards
