Passing on a Legacy
Events and ceremonies held at the University of the Pacific on October 6th marked the inauguration of the new Inter-American program at the University. We are so excited to see this project come to fruition and especially want to thank Dr Margee Ensign, dean of the School of International Studies, Provost Phillip Gilbertson and the myraid of other university staff that were involved in this project. We are also grateful to the Covell Alumni that put so much energy into seeing this project become a reality. It has only just begun and we sincerly hope that all Covelianos do what they are able to insure its success and our legacy.
An inaugural reception was held in El Centro and involved invited guests as well as Covell Alumni, current students of the Inter-american program, SIS faculty and University Officials. The reception was followed by a lecture with es president Gaviria of Colombia as prt of the Gerber Lecture Series. The evening was capped with a dinner honoring president Gaviria, Covell Alumin and new students of the Inter-American program in the new University Center.
Dean Ensign commissioned videos to be made of the presentations and we will post them as they are availalbe and perhaps make them available for distribution if people would like to have a copy.
